Due to the multiple changes needed to game even on high-end hardware, gaming laptops are typically more expensive than the typical consumer market. The price of the Asus Tuf series of laptops powered by AMD Ryzen 5 has decreased significantly as a result of the debut of these CPUs, their aggressive pricing strategy, and the incorporation of ROG technologies.
For its price, the Ryzen 5 powered Asus Tuf FX705 offers a lot and can spur fierce competition in the market. But does it meet the requirements of regular users and gamers in the real world? Read our review to learn more:
Review of the Asus Tuf FX705: Specifications
Asus Tuf FX705 is offered in a number of variations. The model we used for this review included a Radeon Vega 8 GPU and an AMD Ryzen 5 3550H processor. The laptop also has 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM and a dedicated AMD RX 560X graphics card. It has a 17.3-inch anti-glare IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. A 1TB hard drive and 8GB of RAM are also included in the device.
Review of the Asus Tuf FX705: Design
The Asus Tuf FX705 has an unattractive appearance, yet the red highlights and angular lines give it a somewhat aggressive appearance. The laptop’s size is likely a result of the numerous cooling components within, which keep the internals from overheating during intense gaming sessions. Additionally, the 17.3-inch display makes it too big to be moved around effortlessly.
Plastic with a brushed aluminum-like texture makes up the outside casing. The red highlights, red Asus branding, red keyboard backlight, and angular lines all around were added to give the device a more aggressive appearance.
Very small bezels on the 17.3-inch display, which the company refers to as a “nano-edge display,” improve its appearance and somewhat reduce its size. The body’s brushed metal finish feels great to the touch and prevents fingerprints from appearing.
The Asus Tuf FX705 has a very aggressive and functional design overall. It is at least somewhat durable because the company says that it has passed the MIL-STD 810G standard but does not specify which testing it has passed.
Review of the Asus Tuf FX705: Display
The 17.3-inch IPS LCD display of the Asus Tuf FX705 has a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. To see a Full HD panel with such a large size at this price point is truly impressive. Additionally, the display is anti-glare, which is helpful when working outside in the sun, something you wouldn’t want due to its enormous size and weight. A terrific experience may be had watching movies because of the enormous 17.3-inch display. The anti-glare matt display greatly reduces glare and enhances colour fidelity.
Review of the Asus Tuf FX705: Performance
The AMD Ryzen 5 3550H processor, which has 4 cores and 8 threads, powers the laptop. It includes one 8GB RAM stick loaded out of the box, which is more than enough for most use cases and provides capacity for expansion.
The machine is missing an SSD, which is essential, especially with Windows 10. It should be noted that the laptop does include an M2 PCIe slot, allowing you to update it and add an SSD in the future if you so choose.
The device can easily play all e-sports games, including Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, in terms of gaming performance. You must slightly reduce the graphics in order to achieve greater frame rates. The graphics settings for heavier games like PUBG and Battlefield V must be set to medium or low for them to function.
Review of the Asus Tuf FX705: Keyboard, Trackpad, and IO
The laptop has a chiclet-style keyboard with backlighting. Both playing video games and spending a lot of time typing are quite comfortable. However, the 17.3-inch display makes the laptop overly wide, which means the keyboard would either have huge bezels or a vast space between the keys. Not everyone likes the Asus’s large keyboard space, which is a drawback. Because Windows precession drivers are used by the trackpad, Windows 10 gestures function effectively. Red accents surround the trackpad and keys, giving the device a gaming appearance.
The keyboard comes off as very forceful because to the red backlighting. The feedback from the keys is excellent, and the key travel is adequate.
Considering the size, the IO on the Asus FX705 is decent but disappointing. Even without a CD player, the right side is empty. Nowadays, CD players are obsolete, yet the laptop has so much room that one might have simply been installed. A 3.5mm jack, two USB 3.0 Gen 1 ports, and a USB 2.0 port are all located on the left side of the device. Along with an ethernet port, a charging port, and an HDMI port, you also have these.
Review of the Asus Tuf FX705: Battery
The Tuf FX705 shares the same problem of most gaming laptops in that it has poor battery life. The laptop’s battery life is about three and a half hours under typical use conditions, which include online browsing, using a few programmes, and watching some media for a while. You can increase it to about five hours, though, by fiddling with the Windows performance modes and a few other parameters. It is typical for the provided charger to take 1.5 hours to fully charge the device.
Review of the Asus Tuf FX705 review
Undoubtedly among the greatest gaming laptops around 60,000 rupees is the Asus Tuf FX705 model. The review model has a suggested retail price of just over Rs 59,999. A laptop is cumbersome to transport due to its heavy weight and large size.
The price of gaming laptops has decreased significantly, and the laptop offers exceptional value for the money because of the competitive Ryzen 5 series processor pricing. It won’t blow you away, but given the price, it’s a decent gaming laptop.
So, the Asus Tuf FX705 is a fantastic choice if you want a laptop mostly for gaming. However, the enormous size and weight will undoubtedly ruin your experience if you also want to use it as a work or school laptop. I would prefer to advise choosing the 15.6-inch display because it will be smaller and a little lighter to carry. All things considered, you won’t be dissatisfied with the option you select.
